Green Canary Day
Green Canary Day 2002
Canary Wharf held its first Green Canary Day on 14th November 2002 to promote environmental awareness in the workplace.
A new initiative set up by Canary Wharf Group, Green Canary Day is a free event which took place in and around the Canary Wharf shopping malls. Those exhibiting included a number of companies and organisations such as Bywaters and London Remade, who work with Canary Wharf in providing services, material and resources specialising in energy efficiency, recycling and waste management as well as community involvement and social responsibility.
To launch the day, a tree planting ceremony was conducted by Tony Partington, Managing Director, Canary Wharf Management Limited, in order to celebrate the existing 700 mature trees - with more trees to follow - that provide natural habitats for wildlife and pleasant surroundings for people within the landscaped areas of the estate.
